SitesSaver is free software licensed under the GNU General Public License, version 2 or later. You may use it on any number of sites, including client sites and commercial ones, and you may study, modify, and redistribute it under the same licence.
The full licence text governs. Nothing on this page restricts a right the GPL grants you.
No warranty
The plugin is provided as is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. To the fullest extent permitted by law, fidodesign.net is not liable for data loss, lost revenue, downtime, or any other damages arising from use of the plugin or this website.
That is the standard clause, and here is the practical meaning. A backup tool is only as good as the restore you have actually performed. Test a restore on a staging site before you need one in an emergency. Software has bugs, servers run out of disk space, and hosts kill long-running processes. Keep more than one copy, and keep at least one of them somewhere other than the server being backed up.
Your responsibilities
- Verify your backups. Download one occasionally and restore it somewhere safe.
- Keep the trigger URL for server cron private, and regenerate it if it leaks.
- On Nginx, deny public access to the backup directory, since
.htaccessis ignored there. - Set retention high enough that it does not delete a manual backup you meant to keep.
- Archives contain everything your site contains, personal data included. Store and dispose of them in line with whatever law applies to you.
- Only back up and restore sites you are authorised to administer.
The Google Drive relay
The optional Drive feature uses an authentication relay we operate at
api.sitessaver.com, described in the
privacy policy. It is provided as a convenience
without any uptime guarantee. If it is unavailable, Drive uploads pause; local
backups, restores, and migration are unaffected because they never touch it.
Free, and what may be paid
Everything the plugin does today is free and unrestricted. Additional storage destinations such as S3, Dropbox, and FTP or SFTP are being built, and may be sold when they ship. No date and no price is being promised here.
Nothing that works for free today will be moved behind a payment. If that ever changed, it would be stated plainly on this site rather than applied quietly, and the GPL means any version you already have stays yours under the same terms regardless.

Support is provided on a best-effort basis, with no response time guaranteed. Bug reports belong on the issue tracker, where they are public and searchable. Private matters go to [email protected].

The content of this site is provided for information. We try to keep it accurate against the shipped plugin, and where the two disagree, the plugin source and its changelog are authoritative.
Changes
These terms may be updated. The date at the top reflects the last change. Continuing to use the plugin after a change means accepting the updated terms, except where the GPL says otherwise, and it usually does.
